Michael Sweetney's stay in Boston has been short-lived.

The Georgetown alum was waived by the Celtics on Thursday. Sweetney signed with Boston as a free agent on Sept. 28 and appeared in five games in the 2009 preseason, averaging 3.6 points and 1.2 rebounds in 6.4 minutes per game.

The Celtics roster now stands at 15 as the team prepares to take on the Cavaliers on Oct. 27 in its first game of the 2009-10 regular season.
