Doc Rivers Not a Fan of Playing Numbers Game

As NBA training camps near their close, coaches and general managers across the league are beginning to slice and dice their rosters for the start of the regular season.

Celtics head coach Doc Rivers presumably has an easy task when it comes to his star-studded lineup but that doesn't mean he's content with the NBA's roster rules limiting the number of players that can dress.

“I think that’s the owners' choice,” Rivers told the Boston Herald. “I do believe it should be 15 players on every team and I believe it should be 15 dressed players on every team. I’ve never understood why you have to say only 12 can dress when you’re paying for 15. If the team wants to pay for 13, then 13 of them can dress.

“I’ve never understood that,” he added. “I’ve always said it puts us in a bind. Every day I have to go to three players (and say), ‘You’re not dressing, you’re not dressing, you’re not dressing.’”
