Ron Artest's occasionally bruising style of play has already had an effect on the Lakers, though likely not in the way they would have liked.

The forward got tangled up with Sacramento's Jon Brockman in Thursday night's preseason game, and Artest ended up kicking Lamar Odom in the shin on his way to the floor.

Odom is officially listed as day-to-day with a leg contusion, according to the Lakers' official blog.

"After the game Odom told Lakers.com’s Mike Trudell that while the shin was sore, he wasn’t overly worried about it," the Web site says.

Odom briefly returned in the second half before returning to the locker room to be checked out by trainers.

The Lakers next play Saturday night at home against Charlotte. Their regular season begins Oct. 27 against the Clippers.
