Cole Hamels is back in the World Series. Unlike last year, though, he won't be starting Game 1 of this one.

The Phillies named Cliff Lee the starter for Game 1 of the World Series against the Yankees on Wednesday night, according to ESPN.com.

In three starts this postseason against Colorado and Los Angeles, Lee, the 2008 Cy Young award winner, went 2-0 with a 0.74 ERA. Since being traded from Cleveland to Philadelphia at the trade deadline, he went 7-4 with a 3.39 ERA in the regular season.

Hamels, meanwhile, went 10-11 with a 4.32 ERA in 2009 after going 14-10 with a 3.09 ERA and leading the Phillies to a championship in 2008.

The rest of the Phillies rotation is still uncertain, but either Hamels or Pedro Martinez is likely to pitch Game 2.

Manager Charlie Manuel confirmed that Lee could make three starts in the series if needed. The manager would consider using him on three days' rest.

In two starts against the Yankees, Lee is 1-1 after allowing four runs in 12 innings pitched.
