Breakfast Blend: Shawn Thornton Says Hello to Bryan Allen The Bruins didn’t win on Thursday night, but all was not lost. Shawn Thornton squared off against Bryan Allen, and though Thornton was a few inches shorter and a few pounds lighter, he clearly was a little bit tougher.

Comment of the day
Jason Bay
was awarded a Silver Slugger Award on Thursday, and with his future in Boston very much in question, fans seem to be a little split on their feelings toward Bay.

“Congratulations to Jason Bay on this award. Imagine how much better those numbers would have been if he didn’t strike out 150+ times a year. This guy could be a major offense threat if he could avoid some of those K’s. I certainly hope Boston is able to get him signed this off-season, but honestly, I’m not holding my breath. I hope I’m proven wrong, but I get the feeling JBay is more about the money than he is loyalty. I enjoy seeing him in a Sox uniform, but I really hope if he comes back this year, he has a little better eye at the plate and lowers that K total by 1/3-1/2. I know that’s a bit of a stretch, but it should be quite possible.”

Matchups in the NBA can be easily overhyped, but Thursday’s game between LeBron James‘ Cavaliers and Dwyane Wade‘s Heat was not short on excitement.

Though LeBron came out on top, it was Wade who produced the play of the night.

(Sincere apologies to Anderson Varejao.)
