Notre Dame Quarterback Jimmy Clausen Allegedly Punched in Face By Fan As if losing to UConn wasn't painful enough for Jimmy Clausen, the Notre Dame quarterback now has to deal with a swollen eye, suffered after a fan allegedly punched him in the face.

A person with knowledge of the incident told ESPN.com that Clausen dined with his parents at a South Bend, Ind., restaurant and was "sucker punched" on his way out early Sunday morning. The eye injury is not expected to keep Clausen from playing, according to the report.

The source said that the fan said something to Clausen and his female acquaintance. There was no police report filed.

In Saturday's game, Clausen completed 30 of 45 passes for 329 yards and two touchdowns while adding another rushing touchdown. On the season, he's thrown for more than 3,300 yards while completing 67.3 percent of his passes for 25 touchdowns and four interceptions.
