There wasn't a baseball fan in Boston who wasn't happy for Nick Green last year for getting a chance in the big leagues and making the most of it. Now, Green's used that experience to secure another job, though it looks like he'll have to work his way back to the majors once again.

FoxSports.com's Ken Rosenthal reported via Twitter that Green signed a minor league deal with the Dodgers. Minor league deals are nothing new to Green, who spent 112 games in 2008 with the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees. He signed with the Red Sox that offseason, and due to injuries, found himself playing in 103 games in 2009.

Green underwent minor back surgery and could be a couple weeks behind at the start of spring training, but he could be the primary backup to shortstop Rafael Furcal, Rosenthal reports.

Green spent the bulk of his playing time at shortstop in 2009, appearing in 81 games there and starting in 74. He also made starts at third base, second base and left field, and even made an emergency bullpen appearance, tossing two scoreless innings in August.
