Report: USC Interested in Jaguars' Head Coach, Former Trojan Jack Del Rio The University of Southern California may go from one former NFL head coach to another, as the Los Angeles Daily News is reporting that the Trojans have sent Jaguars’ skipper Jack Del Rio a contract offer.

On Monday, Pete Carroll announced that he is leaving the L.A. school to become head coach of the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks.

Del Rio finished up his seventh year as head coach of the Jaguars with a 7-9 record, giving the former USC All-American a career 58-57 overall record under the headset in Jacksonville. He also owns a 1-2 postseason record and is rumored to be on the chopping block. Should the former Trojan linebacker get snipped, he would collect more than $15 million that the Jags owe him.

Del Rio, unlike Carroll, has no collegiate coaching experience.

Should Del Rio head to Southern California, he’ll be without USC quarterbacks coach Jeremy Bates, whom Carroll hired as the Seahawks’ offensive coordinator. However, last season’s true freshman quarterback Matt Barkley, the first USC quarterback in school history to start every regular-season game as a true freshman, announced that he will not be transferring despite Carroll’s departure.
