Senator-elect Scott Brown is still riding high from his recent win over Martha Coakley earlier this month and the first Mass. Republican Senator in over 30 years may have already made his most significant and controversial decision.
And the Nation has taken notice. Red Sox Nation, that is.
Appearing on Thursday night's "10 @ Ten" segment on The Jay Leno Show, Brown was quizzed to "name the five Red Sox starters" for the 2010 season.
As everyone in New England knows, of the six Red Sox starters — Jon Lester, Josh Beckett, John Lackey, Daisuke Matsuzaka, Clay Buchholz, Tim Wakefield — someone will end up as the odd-man out of the rotation this summer.
Without an ounce of hesitation, Sen. Brown quickly responded, "It's obviously up in the air a little bit, but you have Lester, Lackey, Buchholz, Beckett, Wakefield — or let me see here, probably Wakefield or Dice-K."
So there you have it. According to Sen. Brown, the fifth and final spot in the rotation will come down to the two veterans who are climbing back from an injury-plagued 2009 season with Buchholz sitting pretty in the fourth slot.
