Patrick Pass, a versatile player who played with the New England Patriots from 2000 to 2006, has officially retired from the NFL, according to the Boston Herald.

Pass has not played in the past two seasons as he attempted to shake various maladies, most recently turf toe. The 32-year-old last saw NFL action during 2007 when he appeared in one game for the New York Giants. He also attended training camp with the Houston Texans prior to the 2007 season.

Pass retires with 570 career receiving yards along with 520 rushing yards, four touchdowns and three Super Bowl rings. He served as a running back, fullback, wide receiver, kick returner and special teamer during his time in New England. Pass was the starting fullback in 2004, when the team vanquished the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl XXXIX.

Pass signed with the Patriots in June of 2009, only to be released a week later. He will now work on training youngsters to play football, something he hopes to parlay into a second career down the road.
