Boston College's Al Skinner wasn’t the only men's basketball coach in Massachusetts to lose his job Tuesday.

Holy Cross has fired head coach Sean Kearney after only one season with the team, the Worcester Telegram & Gazette reports.

Kearney replaced Ralph Willard last July as the Crusaders head coach, but he failed to meet high preseason expectations as Holy Cross was picked by many experts to win the Patriot League title.

The longtime Division-I assistant led Holy Cross to a disappointing 9-22 record in his first head-coaching stint. The Crusaders posted a 5-9 record in league play and entered the Patriot League tournament as the No. 7 seed before losing in the semifinals to Lafayette.
