Marathon Monday, a tradition like none other, is overflowing with excitement as Bay Staters prepare for the most (and perhaps only) anticipated Monday in the history of the Commonwealth.

Aside from the actual running of the 114th Boston Marathon, the Red Sox are sending John Lackey to the rubber against the Rays while Zdeno Chara and the Bruins are welcoming in the Sabres to the TD Garden for Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals at 7 p.m.

What would you rather do: run 26.2 Miles, face John Lackey or get checked by Zdeno Chara?

Text “SOX1” to 542542 if you would run 26.22 miles. Text “SOX2” to 542542 if you would rather face John Lackey. Text “SOX3” if you would rather get checked by Zdeno Chara.

The pregame results have 50 percent of voters opting to face Lackey, with the other 50 percent choosing to get slammed into the boards by the 6-foot-9 Chara.

The postgame results have John Lackey getting the most votes, with 45 percent of the votes. 41 percent of voters prefer getting hit by Chara, while just 14 percent would choose the 26.2 miles.

By Tuesday morning, the gap grew a little wider, with Lackey getting 47 percent of the votes, Chara 40 percent and the marathon 13 percent.
