After One Month, Who Do You Think Will Win the AL East?

May 1, 2010

Just one month into the season, it’s already been a roller coaster ride for the 2010 Red Sox, who have dug themselves an early fourth-place hole.

The Sox are looking up at the Blue Jays (6 1/2 games out), the Yankees (1 1/2 games out) and the first-place Rays. But like many slow-starters argue: it’s not how you begin, it’s how you end.

Terry Francona‘s squad has yet to find its rhythm, and a couple of key injuries in Jacoby Ellsbury and Mike Cameron have slowed them down out of the gait. With their current pitching staff and a healthy lineup, this team can do plenty of damage — but when they finally come together, will it be too little, too late to catch the powerful Rays and Yankees?

Saturday’s NESN.com Question of the Day powered by KGB comes from Deidre in Lowell. After one month, who will win the AL east? Text ‘SOX1’ for Red Sox, ‘SOX2’ for Rays, or ‘SOX3’ for Yankees to 542542. Results will be revealed later in the show and you can view the latest results and vote at NESN.com/kgb.

As of 8 a.m. on Sunday, 50 percent felt the Rays would take home the division crown while 32 percent optimistically tab the Red Sox as victors. Just 18 percent think the Yankees will emerge as champions.
