Roush Fenway driver Carl Edwards will make his 11th Nationwide Series start at Charlotte Motor Speedway this Saturday.

Edwards, piloting the No. 60 Fastenal Ford Fusion, has only started outside the top 10 once in Charlotte with an average start of 5.8 and an average finish of 15. He finished 11th after starting fourth two weeks ago in Dover.

Looking ahead to the team’s chances of a championship, Edwards is optimistic about this weekend.

"We’ve had some really good races in the Nationwide Series at Charlotte," Edwards said. "We just need to go and pick up some points with our Fastenal Ford Fusion, and right now is an important time for us to close points. If we can gain some ground now I’ll feel a lot better at our chance on a championship. Drew and the guys have been working really hard. Since it is a day race everything will be different, but that might work to our advantage."

Crew chief Drew Blickensderfer welcomes the challenge of racing during the day.

"Charlotte is a huge race every year for us since it is in the team’s backyard," he said. "Racing in the afternoon is different than what we have done the last few years in Charlotte so it will be fun to work at getting the chassis right for sunny/slick conditions.  Horsepower, body, and strategy all rank high on the things needed to win at Charlotte."

The No. 60 Ford Fusion will display the Fastenal colors again this weekend, marking the sixth of 15 races that Fastenal will be the primary sponsor. The team will go into Saturday's race with chassis RK-685, the same car it ran in Nashville earlier this season, where it finished sixth.

Edwards will also be signing autographs at Roush Fenway Racing’s Fan Day on May 27.
