NEW YORK — Hot-hitting rookie Ike Davis and Rod Barajas both homered twice, with Barajas hitting his second of the night in the ninth inning Friday to give New York Mets a 6-4 victory over the San Francisco Giants and their eighth straight home win.

Davis hit solo homers in the second and fourth innings for the first multihomer game of his major league career and did a 360 degree flip into the dugout to catch a foul ball to end the top of the ninth with runners at the corners.

Davis also started the winning rally, walking with one out in the bottom of the ninth against Sergio Romo (0-3). Barajas then hit a high drive down the left-field line for his ninth homer this season and 101st of his career, giving the power-starved Mets a rare four-homer night.

He combined with Davis in the second to give New York back-to-back homers for the first time at Citi Field, which opened last year. Slumping Jason Bay got New York's offense going with a one-hop RBI double to the center-field wall in the first inning.

Francisco Rodriguez (2-0) was handed a 4-3 lead in the ninth but allowed a tying solo homer to pinch-hitter John Bowker with one. The Giants then put two on — with second baseman Luis Castillo making a diving stop on Mark DeRosa's infield hit to hold Aaron Rowand at third. Pedro Sandoval hit a foul that Davis speared by leaning into the Mets dugout before tumbling over.

New York returned from two last-pitch losses in Cincinnati to improve to 12-5 at home, a stark contrast to its 4-8 record on the road. The Mets are on their longest home winning streak since taking 11 in a row at Shea Stadium from Aug. 5-24, 2006.

Mike Pelfrey rebounded from shoulder stiffness in a loss at Philadelphia last weekend to allow three runs and eight hits in 7 1/3 innings with four strikeouts and no walks.

Jonathan Sanchez allowed three home runs for the first time in 72 major league starts, giving up a season-high four runs and seven hits in seven innings. San Francisco's offense didn't help, stranding four runners on third.

After Bay's first-inning RBI double, Davis homered off the right-field overhang with one out in the second. Two pitches later, Barajas homered just over the wall down the left-field line to make it 3-0.

It was just the third time batters hit consecutive homers at spacious Citi Field, according to STATS LLC. Philadelphia's Ryan Howard and Raul Ibanez did it June 9, followed by Arizona's Mark Reynolds and Miguel Montero on Aug. 3.

Eli Whiteside hit a leadoff double in the third and scored on Rowand's groundout. Davis, who came up to the Mets on April 19, made it 4-1 in the fourth with his third major league homer, a drive about 40 feet to the right of dead center.

San Francisco closed within a run in the fifth when Rowand hit an RBI double and DeRosa had a run-scoring grounder.
