The Boston Bruins signed forward Jeremy Reich to a one-year contract on Thursday.

Reich, 31, played in 90 games for the Bruins from 2006-08, but he hasn’t played in the NHL since. He spent the 08-09 season with the Providence Bruins and last year with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. He played in four playoff games for the Bruins in ’08, posting a minus-1 rating and registering eight penalty minutes.

The acquisition wasn’t for Reich’s scoring ability, as he has just two goals and four assists in 99 career NHL games. His 161 penalty minutes, however, indicate he’ll be bringing some grit to the organization.
