Devin McCourty Not at Rookie Camp as First Rounders Remain Slow to Sign

Tom Brady reported to Patriots rookie camp on Sunday without a new contract. First-round pick Devin McCourty did not.

While it may be unfair to call the former Rutgers defensive back a holdout, given that Dez Bryant of the Dallas Cowboys is the only first rounder to sign thus far, ESPN has reported that contract negotiations are going slowly.

Many first rounders have been hesitant to sign contracts because of the looming labor issues and potential for a 2011 NFL lockout, and this has given McCourty's camp little to go off of in negotiations.

One source has even reportedly advised McCourty to wait and see.

On the other hand, the Boston Herald has reported that the Patriots are confident that a deal with McCourty is coming soon.
