The Red Sox' supplemental first-round draft pick, Anthony Ranaudo, threw six no-hit innings for the Cape League's Brewster Whitecaps on Thursday.

The Whitecaps hosted the Harwich Mariners in the impressive outing by Ranaudo, where he allowed four walks and struck out five batters.

Ranaudo was the 39th pick in the supplemental first round of this year's draft and will pitch the remainder of the summer in Brewster before starting negotiations with the Red Sox administration in mid-August, along with his adviser Scott Boras, WEEI.com reports.

The young pitcher has allowed just seven hits in four starts for Brewster and has tallied 21 strikeouts in those appearances. With those numbers, he is on track for a bid to this year's Cape League All-Star Game to be played at Fenway Park on July 28.

Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein had his first meeting with Ranaudo last Friday, where he put on another amazing performance throwing seven shutout innings with five K's.

Epstein and Ranaudo have agreed to allow the young star to develop through the rest of the summer before settling on a signing agreement, according to WEEI, but there is optimism surrounding Ranaudo's future with the Sox.

"It’s not every day you can sign a player immediately after the draft," Epstein told the website. "The good ones are sometimes worth waiting for."
