Gary Robinson Steals, Signs First-Base Bag in One of Baseball's Best Ejections of 2010 Needless to say, it’s rare that the short season Single-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates get much publicity these days, but State College Spikes’ manager Gary Robinson has put the club on the map thanks to an epic tirade over the weekend.

Robinson was tossed after arguing a questionable call, but he wasn’t about to hit the showers with dignity and grace.

Instead, Robinson — who, ironically enough, was a Triple-A umpire evaluator before becoming the manager of the Spikes — covered home plate with dirt, and went on to steal first base, autograph it, and give it to a fan.
