Loki the Octopus Predicts Brett Favre Will Retire

Vikings quarterback Brett Favre is going to retire – at least that’s what Loki the Octopus thinks.

According to Fox Sports, an octopus at Minnesota’s Mall of America predicted Thursday that Favre will retire rather than return for a 20th NFL season.

The octopus reportedly decided the fate of the 40-year-old quarterback by choosing between two types of food in its aquarium. The infatuation with having octopi predict the future, of course, began during the World Cup, when Paul the Octopus correctly predicted the outcome of all of Germany’s matches.

Thursday’s prediction came when Loki decided between two food options – one reportedly had a celebratory photo of Favre in a Vikings uniform, while the other had a picture of Favre’s face with a red line through it.

The actual status of the 19-year NFL veteran remains up in the air as usual. While there were reports earlier in the week that Favre would retire, he has since told ESPN that he has not made a decision and will play this season if he is healthy.
