Miami Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder has an unspecified leg injury that will now require a second opinion.

Crowder has been out since Aug. 17 with the injury and the Dolphins are just now sending him to get a second look at it. Crowder missed the final game of last season with a foot injury, but it's still unclear whether or not this injury is related to last year's foot injury.

His status for the Dolphins' regular-season opener on Sept. 12 is still uncertain.

Crowder had 51 tackles and one sack last year, but is known around New England for his part in a scuffle in a 2008 on-field fight with Patriots offensive lineman Matt Light.

The injury to Crowder is just the latest occurrence in what's been an up-and-down preseason for the Dolphins. They're 2-1 so far this offseason, but have struggled at times on both sides of the ball.
