It looks like Brandon Jacobs is going to need that helmet he threw after all.

Accrding to ESPN.com, the disgruntled Giants running back has not asked to be traded. Reports earlier this week insisted that Jacobs — who is upset about his diminished role — demanded a trade following the team’s Week 2 defeat to the Colts.

Head coach Tom Coughlin is frustrated by Jacobs’ current off-field antics. On Sunday, in the midst of a crushing Sunday night loss to the Colts, Jacobs threw his helmet into the stands when he tried to spike it out of frustration.

Jacobs is in the second year of a four-year, $25 million deal. Trading a player with such a large contract but such small production is going to be quite a tall order for the G-Men, should they pursue that route, which may be a possibility if he continues to be a distraction.

Coughlin reiterated Monday that Ahmad Bradshaw is the team’s starting running back.

“We felt Bradshaw earned that right, and it has not changed,” he told ESPN.com.

Jacobs has 52 yards on 16 carries so far this young season.
