Shannon Sharpe Takes Leave of Absence in Light of Michele Bundy's Accusations

Shannon Sharpe stayed in the CBS NFL studio this past Sunday despite a “family violence” restraining order being filed against him last week. But now that details in the case have come out, he has decided to take a break.

He released the following statement through CBS on Tuesday, following a SportsByBrooks report describing the allegations.

“I have decided to step aside from The NFL Today until this matter is resolved.”

Michele Bundy filed for a restraining order on behalf of her and her child against Sharpe on grounds that he forced her to have sex with him, threatened her with death on multiple occasions and stalked her.

A hearing will occur in Atlanta on Sept. 20. At this point, Sharpe has not been charged with any crimes.
