The Red Sox aren't the only Fenway team looking for young superstars.

Roush Fenway Racing announced Thursday that it had signed up-and-coming NASCAR driver Trevor Bayne.

The 19-year-old prospect has started all 28 races in the Nationwide Series this season with significant success. After getting acclimated in the series, Bayne has totaled three poles, nine top-10 and five top-five finishes in his last 14 Nationwide starts.

He is currently ranked seventh in the Nationwide Series standings.

Owner Jack Roush is eager to add a teenager with such talent to his team.

"Trevor has exhibited a distinctive ability to run fast, up front and compete side-by-side with veteran drivers in a relatively short amount of time," said Roush in a statement. "We feel that he possesses all of the tools necessary to grow into a top-level driver and we look forward to working with him to hone his skills as we move forward down the road."

With the addition, Roush Fenway will have three drivers competing in the Nationwide Series that are currently in the top 10 in the series' standings.

Bayne, a Knoxville, Tenn., native, started driving at the age of 5 on the go-cart circuit. He won more than 300 feature races, 18 state and track champions and three world championships. He eventually won top rookie honors in both the Allison Legacy Race Series and the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series Southern Division before moving on to the K&N Series.

The talented teen is excited for the new opportunity and looking forward to the future.

"We are looking forward to a great relationship with Roush Fenway, and I'm eager to go racing with Jack Roush and everyone at the organization," he said. "I can't wait to get everything started this weekend in Kansas."

Bayne will begin driving the No. 17 Roush Fenway Nationwide Series entry this weekend in Kansas, and the team intends to use him for the remaining six races on the schedule.
