Tyler Seguin Has 'Good Chemistry' With Patrice Bergeron, Mark Recchi During Scrimmage BOSTON — Trying to make the transition from junior to the NHL as an 18-year-old is tough enough. Now try doing it at three different positions.

That's the challenge Bruins rookie Tyler Seguin is facing this training camp, but the early returns indicate that it might not matter where Boston lines up its top prospect.

Seguin is a natural center, but the Bruins' depth down the middle had the club planning to start him off on the wing this season. Then center Marc Savard was sidelined indefinitely with post-concussion syndrome symptoms before the start of camp, and suddenly Seguin was put back at center, where he skated throughout rookie camp and the first two days of practices in the main camp.

But when the Bruins played their first scrimmage at the Garden on Monday afternoon, Seguin found himself lined up on the wing with veterans Patrice Bergeron and Mark Recchi.

"I know coming into the NHL if I want to be here I have to be confident in either position," said Seguin. "I want to be a diverse player, so I'm happy playing either position. I came into practice and I thought I was playing center, then I went to right wing and then I finished up at left wing."

Seguin's White squad lost 3-1 to Black in the empty Garden, but Seguin set up his side's lone goal with a nifty feed out from behind the net to Bergeron in the slot, and Bergeron roofed it over goalie Nolan Schaefer's shoulder.

"Recchi made a great play there and kept it in the zone," said Seguin. "I went behind the net and I knew the D were a bit behind the play. I saw Bergie there and threw it out to him and he finished it."

Seguin created several other chances as well, and made a strong impression on both the veterans he was skating with and the coaching staff observing the scrimmage.

"Good chemistry huh? I noticed that from up top just watching there seemed to be some good chemistry there," said Bruins head coach Claude Julien. "It's interesting. As you know we were planning on getting Tyler going on the wing with a healthy Savard. But it's something that's good to know, and I can tell you I liked what I saw."
