A former member of the Patriots’ practice squad is going to get his chance to play some real games.

Offensive lineman Jacob Bender signed with the Hartford Colonials of the UFL on Monday, after he was released from the New Orleans Saints’ practice squad on Sept. 14.

Bender was a sixth-round pick by the New York Jets out of Nicholls State in 2007. He played two NFL games in his career, including his debut on Oct. 28, 2007 against the Buffalo Bills. He’s also played in 16 preseason games.
