ALLEN PARK, Mich. — Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford is practicing again in a limited role.

Stafford, who hasn’t played since injuring his throwing shoulder in the season opener against Chicago, was upgraded on the team’s injury report Friday after being out of practice before that.

Coach Jim Schwartz hasn’t named a starter for Sunday’s game in New Jersey against the New York Giants, but Schwartz did say he’d be getting ahead of himself if he started talking already about activating Stafford this weekend.

Shaun Hill has started all four games at quarterback since Stafford’s injury and led the Lions (1-4) to a win last weekend over the St. Louis Rams.
