Roy Halladay Throws No-Hitter Against Reds in Postseason Debut With Phillies Welcome to the playoffs, Roy Halladay.

Hallday, making his first playoff start of his career, threw a no-hitter against the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday in Philadelphia in Game 1 of the National League Divisional Series. The Phillies took Game 1 of the NLDS by a score of 4-0.

The final out came when Brandon Phillips hit a squibber in front of home plate that Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz picked up and threw to first getting Phillips by a step.

It was the second no-hitter of the year for Halladay who threw a perfect game against the Florida Marlins on May 29 in Miami. The only thing that separated Halladay from his second perfecto of the season was a meager two-out walk of Jay Bruce in the fifth.

The no-hitter is only the second in MLB postseason history. The other, of course, was Don Larsen's perfect game in 1956 for the New York Yankees.

Halladay, who was traded to the Phillies in the offseason, was staked to an early lead when the Phillies scored a run in the first and then three in the second, highlighted by an RBI single by Halladay himself.
