Most UFL teams have gone with ex-NFL head coaches like Dennis Green or Jim Fassel to lead their squads. The new Virginia franchise to be named later is taking a different route.
The Hampton, Va. team will go with Joe Moglia, former TD Ameritrade CEO, as their man in charge — even though he hasn't had a paid coaching position since he was Dartmouth's defensive coordinator from 1981-83, according to the Virginia Pilot.
In 2008, Moglia resigned and became a special adviser to Bo Pellini at University of Nebraska, serving as a "life skills and leadership consultant," reportedly working upwards of 70 hours per week on the job.
Moglia was also a finalist to become CEO of the U.S. Olympic Committee.
General manager Doug Williams also said in the past that he wanted a coach with NFL experience. Apparently, he changed his mind.
