Vote: Which Current New York Sports Personality Do You Dislike the Most? The Red Sox and Yankees get all the national publicity in the Boston-New York rivalry, but the fact is that there’s a whole lot of hatred shared between the two cities when it comes to sports.

With the Patriots and Jets set to face each other next Monday night in what could be the game of the year, it’s worth wondering which New York sports star is most disliked in New England.

The options, as you can imagine, are plentiful, but let’s narrow it down to Alex Rodriguez, Rex Ryan, Mark Sanchez, Eli Manning and Sean Avery.

A-Rod took home the honors last week of being the New England sports foe least likey to be invited to Thanksgiving dinner in the region. He has to be the odds-on favorite to win this race as well.

Sexy Rexy, with his boisterous personality, is a likable guy. However, when he’s coaching the rival team, and when he boasts a little too much, he can get on people’s nerves rather quickly.

Sanchez, too, isn’t bad at all. Where he angers New England sports fans is actually outside his control, as most Patriots fans will tell you that the kid is overrated. He’s made some clutch throws this year, but he’s got a long way to go before reaching the level that many analysts already have him at.

The younger Manning brother is also a good guy, but he beat the Patriots in a Super Bowl that may or may not have been the most crushing game in franchise history. He will never be forgiven. The fact that he hasn’t been all that excellent since that game makes the loss all the more painful to remember.

Lastly, there’s Avery. His gutless acts in the famous Bruins-Stars game of 2008 will be remembered for a long time, as will his run-in with Tim Thomas from 2009 that prompted the Bruins’ netminder to charge after the instigator.

Who is disliked the most? That’s for you to decide.
