Boston College continued their impressive start by improving to 12-4 overall after defeating Georgia Tech, 86-75 on Saturday.

The two teams entered halftime tied at 39, but the Eagles dominated the Yellow Jackets in the second half, including a key 16-3 run.

Junior Reggie Jackson led BC with 25 points on 8-of-9 shooting and 3-for-3 behind the arc, complemented by Corey Raji’s 22 points and 9-for-13 shooting.

Boston College suffered a disappointing 78-69 non-conference loss to Harvard on Wednesday night at the Conte Forum —  their third loss in a row to the Ivy League at home.  However, by bouncing back to beat Georgia Tech on Saturday, the Eagles improved to 2-0 in ACC play, which leads the conference standings.

Boston College entered the season with low expectations, but high promise for the future.  The team replaced former head coach, Al Skinner, who led BC last year to a disappointing 15-16 overall and 6-10 in conference play, with Steve Donahue from Cornell University, who lead his Ivy League team to the Sweet 16 last year.

On top of that, the team lost several notable players to other schools. Star senior Rakim Sanders transferred to Fairfield University, junior Evan Ravenal transferred to Ohio State University and other rising recruits left for other universities, as well. In three years with BC, Sanders averaged over 27 minutes and 11 points per game, and he was a frequent 20-point scorer..

If BC can continue its early success against ACC teams, the school will make the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2009. Their biggest conference test this season will come on January 27 against undefeated, No. 1 Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

On Jan. 11, BC plays 11-4 NC State who won their first conference matchup.
