Ricky Rubio is reportedly leaning toward playing for the Boston Celtics — if he ever leaves Spain, that is.

According to the New York Times, the playmaking Spaniard will remain in Europe for the foreseeable future, despite the allure of playing in America. However, according to a source inside Rubio’s circle, Rubio would “prefer to be on the East Coast, specifically New York, Miami, or Boston,” the Times reports.

Rubio was drafted fifth overall by the Timberwolves in 2009. Shortly thereafter, he decided to stay in Spain, spurning the T-Wolves offer. Therefore, if he ever does end up coming to the NBA, it will most likely be via trade from Minnesota, as Rubio has expressed his displeasure with playing for the T-Wolves.
