As head coach of a successful UConn football program, rumors have swirled around Randy Edsall's future. From Syracuse to Kansas to Miami, Edsall's name has been thrown in the mix.

All those rumors appear to be false, but Edsall is still on his way out of Storrs.

The 52-year-old Edsall has been hired by Maryland, according to ESPN.com.

Former Maryland coach Ralph Friedgen coached his final game last week in the Military Bowl, a 51-20 win over East Carolina.

Edsall coached his Huskies to a Fiesta Bowl loss to Oklahoma on Saturday night. He is the winningest coach in UConn history, and he signed a five-year extension in 2008 worth roughly $1.5 million per season.

The ESPN report said that Edsall did not fly home with the team following the loss Saturday night. A move would certainly catch the UConn athletic department by surprise.

"I think Randy is going to be at the University of Connecticut," athletic director Ted Miller told ESPN.com. "I think he's here and this is his focus."
