Derek Jeter Says Hard Feelings With Yankees Surrounding Contract Negotiations Are in the Past

It appears Derek Jeter and the New York Yankees have kissed and made up, as the shortstop explained that any hard feelings over his contract negotiations are in the past.

Jeter told The New York Post that despite initially feeling offended by all of the skepticism presented by the Yankees' front office when it came to extending his contract, he's now over it.

"It's over with, done with. You can't change the past," he said.

Tensions were also running high between the beloved shortstop and Yankees general manager Brian Cashman after the GM said Jeter could possibly be moved to center field for the final few years of his career. When asked about his future at the short stop position, Jeter didn't seem too fond of a possible change.

"I don't even think about it," he said. "I have a job to do. My job isn't to try to tell the future. I wish I could, but I can't. I'm not a fortune teller. I don't have a crystal ball at my house. My job is to do what my job is and that's to play shortstop."

Jeter had a less than spectacular season in 2010, posting career low numbers. He hit .270 with a .340 on-base percentage.

Despite that poor showing and questions over how much longer Jeter can produce as he ages, the Yanks signed him to a three-year, $51 million contract with a player option for 2014 in December.
