Islanders-Penguins Makes Bruins-Canadiens Look Tame With Over 300 Penalty Minutes, Another Goalie FightGames like Friday night make you wish that HBO was doing 24/7 for the Pittsburgh Penguins all season.

In what’s quickly becoming a fierce rivalry, the Penguins and the New York Islanders met up on Friday night and had themselves a hockey game. Well, actually, it was more like a big street fight with the occasional hockey mixed in.

Just two days after the Bruins and Canadiens combined for an seemingly unbelievable 192 penalty minutes, the Penguins and Islanders racked up 346 PIM. The game also saw 15 fighting majors, 20 misconducts and 10 ejections when it was all said and done.

Penguins goalie Brent Johnson had himself an entertaining night. Johnson started the night in net for the Pens but was pulled in the second period after allowing six early goals. Johnson’s night was just getting started, though.

He returned for the third period, only to be bowled over in his net by Michael Grabner. Not too long after that, Johnson found himself dropping the gloves against the Islanders for the second time in two weeks, this time with Islanders forward Michael Haley. Apparently, Haley and the rest of the Isles didn’t learn their lessons after Johnson literally broke Rick DiPietro’s face.

Eric Goodard left the Pittsburgh bench to protect his goalie, a move that will end up being pretty costly for his head coach. As the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette points out, Penguins coach Dan Bylsma is now facing an automatic suspension and $10,000 fine for one of his players leaving the bench during the melee.

All of the penalties left the Penguins with two skaters on the bench for the end of the game.

Quote of the day

“I don’t know what Tito’s starting, man. He’s a tool. He poured water on himself today to pretend he was sweating, pretend he was doing work. He didn’t do [expletive]. I don’t know. I might kick his ass before we get started.”

Comment of the day

Irony aside, this commenter is right about one thing: Mike Fisher wasn’t dealt to Nashville just to make him happy. The guy’s married to Carrie Underwood — how much happier can you get?

“what this artical is missing is WHO Senatars got for fisher i am sure they just did not give him away ,they are out of the playoffs so im sure this move got them some young & upcoming talent to reload for the next few yrs , is deal was not done just to make fisher happy it was to get as much as possible for him as they could & if that came from , Philly ,La ,Tampa it doesnt matter the clubs is out to do whats best for the club , but did Fisher have a NO TRADE cluz , if a writer going to tell a storie tell the whole storie not just what sounds good”

If, and more likely when, Michael Young gets traded, it will be a dark day in this household. Look on the bright side, it will make the Santa Claus discussion much easier.
