Kevin Youkilis Starts Spring Training With a Bang As Red Sox Open Spring Schedule (Photos) While it wasn't a Grapefruit League game, or even a prestigious Mayor's Cup contest, the Red Sox returned to City of Palms Park on Saturday afternoon to do what everyone's been waiting for them to do — play a baseball game.

The Sox played two on Saturday, actually, against two Boston-area colleges. The Sox dispatched Boston College in the matinee with a 6-0 win, before coming from behind to thwart Northeastern in the nightcap.

In the day's first game, however, the Red Sox ran out a lineup that featured the likes of Dustin Pedroia, Kevin Youkilis and David Ortiz. Youkilis had himself quite the day, as he delivered a first-inning offering over the right-field fence in his first at-bat fof the spring. The three-run home run set the tone for a day that saw the Sox cruise to two wins by a combined margin of 19-2.

Boston opens its Grapefruit League and Mayor's Cup schedule on Sunday when they take on Fort Myers' other team, the Minnesota Twins.
