Liverpool fans aren't the only ones excited to see Luis Suarez donning LFC Red.

Recently, Anfield legend Phil Thompson spoke very highly of the recent addition.

"Everybody's gone on about Andy Carroll and his £35 million ($56 million) transfer fee but Suarez has come in under the radar," Thompson told LFC.tv. "He excites me and he's a player between Kenny Dalglish and Kevin Keegan, that bundle of enthusiasm, I think the fans have really warmed to him. Hopefully he can do it for Liverpool, it is early days at the moment though."

Liverpool takes on Sparta Prague in the Europa League on Thursday in what is Dalglish's first European match in charge of the club. Thompson is plenty confident in the boss.

"This is Dalglish's first European game as manager which is quite interesting so he'll want to do well. There are a few players who are in that squad going over there, particularly Joe Cole, who I met the other day, and was full of positive vibes.

"If there's anybody who's suffered since the start of the season then it's Joe, he's been really disappointed about the injuries that he's had," he added. "He was saying that he can't wait to get back playing and being played in his rightful position."
