Three-time PGA Tour winner Hunter Mahan and Sun Life Financial have entered into a multiyear partnership.

The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but the terms of Sun Life’s first sponsorship deal in the world of professional golf are that the Sun Life logo will be prominently displayed on the side of Mahan’s hats during all competitive events. Sun Life has the right to use Mahan’s name and likeness globally, and the deal includes personal appearances, a golf clinic hosted by Mahan and hospitality benefits.

“We are extremely pleased to partner with an athlete and individual of Hunter’s caliber,” senior vice president and head of U.S. marketing for Sun Life Priscilla Brown said in a press release. “The sponsorship provides Sun Life with significant broadcast exposure that reaches a key demographic and an opportunity to connect with golf fans everywhere.”

Mahan had one of the most successful seasons on the 2010 PGA Tour with two victories, eight top-25 finishes and a spot on the U.S. Ryder Cup Team.

“I am thrilled to partner with Sun Life Financial and proud to represent their brand as I compete week-in and week-out on Tour,” said Mahan in the press release. “I look forward to a great partnership together.”

Sun Life Financial has emerged as a leader in sports marketing. They own the naming rights to Sun Life Stadium, home of the Miami Dolphins, Florida Marlins and University of Miami Hurricanes, where they hosted the 2010 NFL Pro Bowl and Super Bowl XLIV.

Sun Life also has a multifaceted agreement with the Boston Celtics.
