Fans Who Lost Super Bowl Seats in Dallas Receive Free Trip to Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis When hundreds of paying customers are turned away at the door, you have an unavoidable PR nightmare on your hands. That said, the NFL is doing a fairly decent job of handling the mess.

Roughly 850 people were moved from their original seats, while 450 fans were forced to watch the game on TV monitors after the Arlington Fire Department deemed certain sections of temporary seating to be unsafe before the Super Bowl on Sunday night.

The NFL is doing its best to make up for it by sending those 450 fans to next year’s game in Indianapolis for free.

“The 400 fans w/out seats last nite went on field postgame, received free merchandise, food, beverage, $2,400, free SB46 tix,” tweeted NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy.

You could argue that allowing a Steelers fan onto the field after the game was cruel and unusual punishment, but it’s still not a bad deal. Though these fans were likely the most disappointed people on earth Sunday afternoon, they may just come out with more than they ever could have expected.
