Tony Romo ‘Jealous’ of Ben Roethlisberger, Aaron Rodgers, Accepts Criticism as Fair

Super Bowl XLV will take place on the Dallas Cowboys' home turf on Sunday, a reality which understandably doesn't sit well with Tony Romo.

Romo, in fact, is jealous of the two quarterbacks involved for having such an opportunity, though he's not envious of their skills.

"I wouldn't say you're jealous of anybody, just because you believe in yourself and what you can do. But I'm jealous that they're playing in this game. And I think that's what your goal is as a quarterback. And as a competitor, you always want to be out there," he said, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Fans often come up to Romo and ask why the Cowboys aren't in the big game, and it's difficult for him to respond to that question.

"From a competitive standpoint, it's tough to swallow. I got hurt this year and it was a tough thing because you're basically out of it. You're removed a little and the train keeps going on. You have to find a way to use that to your advantage to get better in the future. And I think I've taking some steps to be a better quarterback and our team to be better as we move forward," he explained.

Romo knows that he has failed to win the big game, and he's fully at peace with that criticism.

"I think it's all warranted. I think it's all about winning at this position. Yeah the stats and all that are fun for people to talk about, but it's really not about that. It's about winning. It's about getting better and playing at your best when it counts. I think we all understand that. I'm no different. … I know that you have to win, you have to win the Super Bowl and you have to win big games. And that's just what matters to people that are watching. And I'm the same way when I watch a different sport."

The Cowboys quarterback's shoulder has fully healed, and he will be ready to go for the 2011 season — provided there is one.
