After picking up a huge victory over Manchester United, Liverpool will be looking to continually strengthen its squad when the summer transfer window opens.

With new funds lined up for the summer bidding process, the Reds are reportedly interested in Real Madrid midfielder Fernando Gago, The People reports. The Argentinean has been struggling with Madrid this season and does not fit into the future plans of manager Jose Mourinho.

The 24-year-old has plenty of experience in his career, compiling over 90 appearances with Madrid since 2007. He also has 30 caps playing internationally with Argentina.

Liverpool would be a good fit for Gago, as the Reds are looking for a defensive midfielder and he is seeking Premier League experience. Liverpool is facing competition from Boca Juniors and AC Milan, two clubs that have also expressed interest in Gago.

Madrid is reportedly asking for £10 million ($16.2 million) for the midfielder.
