It is perhaps fitting that on a day when John Henry questioned Liverpool's squad depth, manager Kenny Dalglish announced that one of his first team defenders will miss the remainder of the season, and two others will be out for nearly the entire remainder of the campaign as well.

After sustaining a knee injury on Saturday at The HawthornsDaniel Agger has been ruled out for two months, according to the Telegraph.

"Daniel has a problem with the tendon behind his knee and won't be involved again this season," said Dalglish.

"He'll be out for a couple of months before he can start training."

The often-injured Agger will be joined on the sidelines by full backs Martin Kelly and Glen Johnson, both of whom have sustained hamstring injuries.

"Glen Johnson has a hamstring problem which is usually about three or four weeks and it's the same for Martin Kelly," explained Dalglish.

The news regarding Steven Gerrard, who was expected to return for the West Brom tie before tweaking his groin in training the day before the match, is slightly better, as his availability will be announced later this week.

"We will know about Steven at the end of the week. He will be assessed and we'll see what the story is," said Dalglish.

There was, however, a little bit of good news on the injury front.

"Fabio Aurelio and Jonjo Shelvey are training again and David Ngog had a game for the reserves on Monday, so we've lost some but we've got a few back," announced Dalglish.

Still, the manager could not help but rue the budding injury crisis.

"It's disappointing for the players because they want to play in every game," he said.

"We're getting towards the end of the season but if you're injured you're injured.

"We feel for them but the most important people at the football club are the ones who are fit and able to play. We have to get on with what we've got."
