UConn Earns Top Dog Status After Defeating Butler for NCAA National Championship Title UConn proved it was the top dog of the wild 2011 NCAA tournament.

The Huskies outlasted Butler in the Monday night matchup, capitalizing in the second half as Bulldogs ran cold and couldn't seem to sink any of their open shots. It was the second straight season that Butler had made it to the title game and lost.

UConn standout Kemba Walker finished the day with 16 points, and two other starters also scored in the double digits in the 53-41 victory.

The national title is Jim Calhoun's third of his career, and the win provides a happy ending for a rather tumultuous season for Calhoun and the Huskies. Check out a few championship photos at the gallery link below.
