Liverpool's major turnaround this season has restored hope at Anfield, but it also brings about loftier expectations for next year.

That's something that Liverpool lifer Jamie Carragher fully accepts.

"There will be big expectations next season but that is always the way with Liverpool," he said, according to LFC.tv. "It's certainly not something we are going to complain about."

Carragher gave credit to Manchester United for putting itself in position to win a title, while saying Liverpool players remain focused on finishing their jobs.

"Things are looking promising again and we have hit a great run of form," he said. "We played really well at Fulham and we are all happy, but you won't find anyone getting carried away. We've just got to make sure we finish the season well, as we want to play in Europe next season."
