With the final seconds ticking off the clock in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final, hearing the voice of Mike “Doc” Emrick wasn’t quite what Bruins fans were expecting for such a defining moment.

Jack Edwards, the man those fans have come to love for his unique play-by-play call, would have made the victory that much sweeter.

Edwards, along with NESN’s Andy Brickley, called the Bruins games for the entire regular season and the first two rounds of the playoffs. As the Bruins continued their charge toward the Cup, NBC and Versus took over with the coverage, leaving the charismatic commentator behind.

However, the Bruins didn’t forget about the man who watched them from high above ice level all season.

Saturday’s rolling rally featured players, coaches, owners and other members of the Bruins franchise. Edwards was right there with them. Although Bruins fans undoutbedly missed Edward’s voice, the trade off — a Stanley Cup — is something they’ll take any day.
