Maxim Lapierre Avoids Reporter’s ‘Mortally Wounded’ Question After Diving in Game 5 (Video)

Maxim Lapierre was a villain in Boston long before the Stanley Cup Final. Playing in Montreal will do that. However, even though Lapierre no longer wears the "CH" crest on his sweater, he still doesn't have many fans in the hub.

Lapierre was on the receiving end of a what, at worst, would be called a love tap from Zdeno Chara in Game 5 of the Cup Final. Lapierre acted like it was a sabre — not a hockey stick — that was poked into his midsection in an apparent feeble attempt to draw a penalty.

See video proof below.

Naturally, Lapierre ended up scoring the game's only goal to give the Canucks a 1-0 win, and send the series back to Boston with the chance to win the Stanley Cup.

Talking to the media afterward, Lapierre was asked about it, but it was the reporter's question that ended up stealing the show.

"Max, it looked like you were mortally wounded when you had that encounter with Zdeno Chara, I wondered how you were able to carry on after that, and maybe also describe the emotion that comes with being one win away from the Stanley Cup," the reporter inquired.

Lapierre, of course, didn't take the bait.

"I think we know it's gonna be the biggest game of our lives in the next one, but Boston's gonna come really hard, at home, they play really good, and we're going to have to be ready for the challenge."
