The Bruins have unfortunately seen the scene before with some of their other players. Forward Nathan Horton was taken off on a stretcher in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final after being hit in the middle of the ice by Canucks defenseman Aaron Rome.

Horton made a pass just as he entered the Vancouver zone and was subsequently struck by Rome, whom the referees determined had hit Horton late. Rome received a five-minute interference penalty and a game misconduct.

The Bruins were unable to score on the ensuing power play, but the health of Horton is the real concern.

His eyes were open and he appeared to be responsive as he was being taken off the ice. It didn't appear as though he ever lost consciousness, although he looked to be in some shock.

Bruins enforcer Shawn Thornton was inserted into the lineup for Game 3 due to the physical nature of the series thus far, which is something that's worth monitoring as the chippiness continues between these two teams.
