Dwayne Roloson defied any stigma attached to his age in the 2010-11 season, and he'll have the chance to do it again next year.

Tampa Bay's general manager and vice president, Steve Yzerman, announced the one-year deal on Thursday. NHL.com reported the deal to be worth $3 million for the 16-year veteran.

"We are happy to bring Dwayne back into the fold today," Yzerman said. "He proved his worth both in the regular season and playoffs last year, bringing stability to our team.  He is a proven veteran and we are pleased to have him back for the upcoming season."

After the Lightning acquired Roloson midseason, he led the Lightning to the Eastern Conference final, where the Lightning fell in seven games to the Bruins. He posted a 2.56 goals-against average in 34 regular-season games and a 2.51 GAA in 17 playoff games.

"I'm extremely excited to return to the Lightning," Roloson said.  "It is a great organization and we had a great run last season. I'm looking forward to trying to do it again in 2011-12."

Roloson will turn 42 shortly after the season starts.
