With heavy rain and wind descending upon much of the East Coast on Saturday, Major League Soccer postponed a pair of games, including the Revolution's match at Philadelphia.

Citing safety concerns with the threat of Hurricane Irene imminent, the Revs-Union match, originally slated for Saturday evening, was postponed and rescheduled to Sept. 7 at 8 p.m. Another match, Portland at D.C. United scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, was also postponed, though no make-up date has been announced.

"With the safety of our fans and clubs top of mind, and thanks to the cooperation of our clubs and broadcast partners, Major League Soccer has rescheduled two games that were originally set for this weekend,” said Nelson Rodriguez, Executive Vice President of Competition and Game Operations. "We expect that Hurricane Irene will likely cause hazardous travel and unplayable conditions throughout the Northeast. We appreciate our fans' understanding of these decisions and the media's assistance in communicating the message."

New England currently holds a 4-11-11 record and sits in last place in the nine-team Eastern Conference. Eight games remain on the club's schedule, which will wrap up on Oct. 22.
