The Providence Bruins announced Monday that assistant general manager Don Sweeney has been added to the roster for the Bruins Alumni Game on Nov. 13.

The Canadian defenseman was taken in the eighth round by the Black and Gold in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft after four seasons playing at Harvard. In 16 NHL seasons, 15 with Boston, Sweeney proved to be one of the most durable skaters in team history, ranking third in B's history in games played at 1,052. Only Johnny Bucyk and Ray Bourque have appeared in more games as a Bruin.

A defense-first blueliner, Sweeney posted only 262 points with the Bruins, finding the net 52 times himself while assisting on 210 of his teammates' goals. Despite low points totals, Sweeney was a plus-90 in Boston.

After one season with the Stars in 2003-04, Sweeney retired from the game and became Boston's director of player development before being named to his current position as assistant GM.

Over the next month the Providence Bruins will continue to announce players added to the alumni roster. To buy tickets for the alumni game check out ProvidenceBruins.com
